Human Resources Generalist-TMG Corporate Office
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Manassas, VA (On Site / Telework with approval)
SCOPE: The MAASAI Group, (TMG) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support the functions of the Human Resources Manager. Responsible for supporting and utilizing all the people’s functions per policies and practices of TMG in the highest business ethics standards, laws, regulations, and administrative rulings of governmental, state and local regulatory authorities. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for supporting strategic human resource planning to position the organization as the employer of choice by overseeing the entire employee lifecycle and being aware of industry policies, practices, and trends.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Expertise in Bamboo HR
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiations and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate
- Through knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- Knowledge of the Federal Contracting environment strongly desired
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily duties include but are not limited to:
- Supporting Guidance in all matters related to employee fairness and equality, ensuring guidance is consistent with TMG’s culture, mission, and values
- Partners with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource mission
- Provides support to leadership, direction, and development for the HR team
- Providing verbal coaching and counseling to managers; assisting with the development of the performance improvement process; interfacing directly with employees that have questions or concerns Interpreting policies and their practical application for corporate, field supervisors, and the executive team
- Affirming the employee culture in the office and providing compliance coaching in job interviews, internal and external calls
- Supports the HR Manager managing vendors that provide HR services to the company
Regular duties include but are not limited to:
Compliance:
- Managing and approving FMLA filing, regulation and requirements
- Filing the annual EEO-1 Report with DOL
- Filing California Pay Data Reporting
- Filing the VETS4212 Report
- Supports approval of 1095C to be filed with the vendor
- Tracking all safety-related data and preparing the annual OSHA 300 Report
- Overseeing I9 process, audits and compliance issues
- Responding to telephone and email inquiries (HR inbox) regarding employee relations, payroll, and benefits issues as a backup for the HR team
- Gathering all supporting documentation (applicant flow logs, termination logs) for the annual Affirmative Action Plan prepared by the HR team
- Updating compliance postings at the corporate office
- Provides routine audits of employment files that the HR Team is completing
- Researching and updating policies to remain in compliance
- Serving as backup timecard reviews for payroll processing
- Review benefit programs and making recommendations for corporate plan
- Supports the management of the entire annual Open Enrollment process (working with executive team and broker to provide guidance and support for plan design/developing/delivering communication materials, coordinating with vendors, completing data entry for benefit selections)
- Providing data to Business Development upon request for proposals regarding benefits and policies
- Reviewing and updating employee handbook as needed, sending to an attorney for legal review.
- Holding individual meetings with each team member weekly for status updates; ensuring the ongoing development of team members for professional growth
- Reviewing and approving pre-authorization requests for training, development, and certifications for contractors (field employees) and corporate employees
Competencies:
This person must demonstrate the ability to excel at tactical execution while also supporting the company’s strategic vision. The ability to effectively communicate with various audiences will be critical in making TMG an employer of choice and providing leadership of the entire employee lifecycle. Executive maturity, discretion, approachability, credibility, and high ethical standards are paramount.
Equipment/Systems:
This position requires expert knowledge of Bamboo HR and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), BambooHR, Adobe Sign, Clockwise and internet search engines.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This position may be considered for temporary part-time or full-time, exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, regular business hours, additional hours as needed.
